Acid Reflux - Common Factors

September 18th, 2010

Heartburn is an almost certainly avoidable disorder. When the stomach is unable to control the production of acid causing it to back up into the esophagus and throat this condition is known as heartburn or acid reflux. Few instances are related to a medical condition. Typically however acid reflux is caused by what we do to ourselves. Read on to find ways to prevent the potential causes of this condition. Also, in case you’re interested in product that does not cause acid reflux problems, try out Shakeology shakes. It tastes really good and there are a lot of excellent Shakeology recipes to try.

Acid reflux is usually caused by eating the wrong foods. When this is the cause, it is usually referred to as heartburn and is a temporary problem. It is important to look into your food choices if you suffer from heartburn regularly. Do you eat large amounts of spicy food? Do you eat a lot of chocolate? Do you eat food loaded with garlic? Heartburn can also be caused by foods containing tomatoes. While it may seem difficult to avoid these foods, it is actually easily done. Giving up chocolate is no fun for anyone but it beats dealing with regular heartburn.

Some medications can be acid reflux causes. If you regularly take muscle relaxers, this may be what’s causing your acid reflux or heartburn. Another category of drug that can cause this condition are blood pressure medications. Some people even suffer from acid reflux symptoms after taking over the counter medications that thin the blood, such as Advil and ibuprofen. If you suspect these medications are the cause of your trouble, try to stop taking them or find replacements.

If you can’t avoid them because of a serious medical issue, you should find out from your doctor if there’s a way to prevent these symptoms from arising.

Believe it or not, some people experience acid reflux as a result of doing certain exercises.

When some people exercise the abdominal wall, they are prone to acid reflux episodes. If you do a strenuous exercise that causes enough tension in the stomach to cause stomach acid to go upwards, into your esophagus, an attack can occur. This does not mean that it’s healthier if you don’t exercise! But if you are prone to this condition, you should take it easy when it comes to working your abdominal muscles. You can also reduce problems by leaving more time between your meal and exercising. You could also ask your doctor or a physical trainer how you can approach your exercise routine so that it is less likely to cause an acid reflux attack.

It is possible to avoid most acid reflux causes. There are medical reasons for you to experience acid reflux but mostly the causes are environmental and brought on by lifestyle choices. Figuring out what in your life may be causing your acid reflux attack and making changes is the best way to prevent them. Get your doctor to help you through this process. You can also ask them for additional steps you can take to prevent any more acid reflux attacks.

Believe it or not, you can lead a perfectly normal life, even if you are prone to heartburn. Lastly, remember to look at our article on the Shakeology price.
