You need to be considering just your weight as a sign of healthy living.  A new measurement of weight called the Body Mass Index, or BMI is now being used across the board to help determine a person’s appropriate weight.  The Body Mass Index uses your height and weight to help zero in on a healthy weight. If you go online you can find out by using a Body Mass Index calculator what your healthy size should be.to guestimate your body fat a BMI test is a much more accurate and modern way of doing this.

Waist to Hip Measurements

Part of the BMI scoring is with a hip measurement, but measuring the hips alone will not take into account a growing waistline.Hips that increase in size are not really a health problem.  Asthetically it might not be the look that you want, but there are no real health risks with extra weight on the hips.A concern is if your midriff section continues to grow which can put a high physical strain on the body.Illnesses such as Cancer, strokes and Diabetes have been shown to have an increased probably when fat is stored around a persons midrif.

There are many reasons that the body will hold into fat in the middle section. The way we are born, chemically speaking is the root of the problem. Our bodies always feel as though they are neither coming or going due to the stress in our lives. Our bodies are rarely put in a position of whether to run or stay due to the chemicals rushing around them. The body likes to store fat, so be careful when taking on glucose and other chemicals.  If you live a high stress lifestyle this could be one main contributor to excess weight around the middle. If you are wanting sugars, don’t want sex, have regular headaches then you may be experiencing stress..

Healthy Changes

There are some easy steps that can be taken to lower your BMI and get to a healthy weight. The most integral and important step is to change what you are eating. It’s better to eat regular small amounts rather than fewer big portions.Try to cut down on your complex carbs and fats.  Don’t skip breakfast and watch your protein intake, make sure that you are getting enough and that it is healthy.Supplements and Vitamins need to be considered.  Make sure that you are getting all the recommended doses of important vitamins, consult with your doctor if you are not sure what you should be taking.  Exercise is vital to healthy weight and BMI.

This does not mean that you need to join a gym, you may want to go to some spa days to break yourself in gently but step up your physical activity. Don’t feel as though you need to go to a gym, just walk or jog around the block or take a trip out and have some spa days.

Start off slowly from doing no exercise to do a tiny amount, and then build it up.If you are feeling like you have hit a plateau then up your work rate. All that weight will move off the body slower the older you are getting.A reduction in stress level is one of the most important aspects in weight loss.  There are a number of ways to do this from meditation to vacation, but find a way for you to de-stress every day and stick to it!
